Last year we held our annual autumn lunch in Edinburgh.
This year we are holding it at the Victory Services Club near Marble Arch in London. This will be a relaxed and convivial lunch at a cost of £45 for a 3 course lunch (£37 for a 2 course lunch). This figure does not include drinks and wine. .
We will be able to circulate a menu from the 1st September.
However, we would be grateful if you could please confirm with David Harris as soon as possible as to whether you intend to be present at the lunch for planning purposes.
Wednesday 9th October – NAA Visit to Shoeburyness (the prime home for the NAA Competitions from 1865 until 1907)
This event has been postponed from 23rd May to allow for more information to be researched and disclosed. We apologise for any inconvenience that this might cause.
The visit will enable all NAA Members to re-live the early NAA competitions (from 1865 onwards) by standing on the positions of the original firing points whilst envisaging firing out to sea at targets approximately 1000 to 2000 metres away.
We will be hosted by the Shoeburyness Heritage and Community Centre CIO and the excellent restoration work being carried out by the CIO.
The draft programme will be:
1030 – 1100 Coffee and meet up
1100 – 1150 Introductory talks from the NAA and the Shoeburyness CIO – what has been accomplished and what is planned
1200 – 1300 Walking the Ranges, Firing Points and the Camping Field
1300 – 1400 Lunch
1400 – 1515 Walkaround the Barracks and the exhibitions in the Cart and Wagon
1515 – 1530 Reflections, Questions and ‘Thanks’
It promises to be an excellent day and more information will be forthcoming in July.
