NAA News & Events

This page contains the latest news from the NAA and details of our upcoming events.  For news and events prior to January 2026 please see the News & Events Archive by clicking here.

The aim of our events and activities are to:

  • Actively support the Reserve Regiments of the Royal Artillery in accordance with the current aims and roles of the NAA; and
  • Enhance understanding of the crucial (and voluntary and self-funded) role undertaken by the  NAA over its 160 year history in supporting the gunnery skills development of the Artillery Volunteers, Territorials and Reservists.

January 2026 – Colonel (Retd) Alex Forbes

Colonel Alex is a member of the NAA.

The Vice Presidents and Trustees wish to warmly congratulate Colonel Alex on his award of the KVRM (King’s Volunteer Reserves Medal).  This medal is presented only to members of the Volunteer Reserves of the British Armed Services for exemplary meritorious service in the conduct of their duties.

The medal was awarded (not only in recognition of his long service to the Royal Regiment) but particularly reflected his work as Deputy Commander Reserves of 1st DRS Brigade. During that time, Colonel Alex commanded the Corps Artillery, 1st MN FAB and also stepped up for the Head of the Profession as Joint Military Commander Guns on Op Golden Orb when he was on Ex Warfighter in the autumn of 2024.

Colonel Alex gave a very interesting resume of his experiences on Ex Warfighter at the NAA AGM in January 2025 which will be long remembered.
